Rapidsoft Systems, Inc, the pioneer in global outsourced & offshore software product development , announced today completion of an important milestone by developing cutting edge mobile widget applications for a major OEM phone developer. Mobile widgets are emerging small footprint web supported applications that give users access to information services including weather, sport scores, traffic information or translations. These applications harness the power of mobile communication by replicating the experience of true web applications. Mobile Widget applications developed by Rapidsoft team leverage GPS location, instant media streaming and utilize functionality of many popular Web APIs from Google, Face book, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn etc., to create a unique experience in information sharing. Rapidsoft Systems’ Development Team worked with a multi-location team of engineers involved in the development of mobile handsets, and completed the ambitious project under very tight schedule and delivered these applications in a record time. These applications will soon be made available to all users around the world and some of them may even be pre-installed on the phones at the factory. A number of phone manufacturers such as LG Electronics, Research in Motion (RIM), Samsung Electronics, Sharp, Siemens and Nokia are in the process of introducing mobile phones with support for a standard specification for software widgets in conjunction with a group of mobile operators. Phones that run the widgets — small, web-based applications can provide quick access to fast changing information — will become a major differentiator in 2010. Network operators Vodafone, China Mobile, Softbank and Verizon Wireless are all trying to work with major handset manufacturers. “Widgets have become an important part of the mobile Internet experience, and Rapidsoft Systems is happy to be part of this mobile revolution.” Said Gurbinder Mavi, VP of Sales and Marketing at Rapidsoft Systems, Inc. “By completing these applications within a very tight timeline, Rapidsoft Systems has once again proven that our development team is capable of satisfying the most demanding customers, and is second to none in this space. Our deep domain expertise, and our all-round ability to work on multiple mobile platforms such as Nokia Symbian S-60, iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile and Brew combined with our proven Web development expertise is what impressed the customer.”, further added Mr. Mavi. Rapidsoft Systems, Inc. has a very strong mobile application development team, who work across all platforms and phones. Rapidsoft System’s professionals had worked with more than 2500+ handsets and with all major US, Canadian, European and Asian cellular operators. Rapidsoft Systems is a corporate level approved developer for iPhone applications with Apple, and is member of Blackberry Development Alliance with Research in Motion (RIM). Rapidsoft Systems, Inc works closely with NSTL for CDMA Brew Application in arranging True Brew Testing certifications. Rapidsoft Systems, Inc has proven experience and skills in whole Brew application development and distribution cycle. Among the applications that Rapidsoft Systems, Inc has developed are very popular mobile games, mapping applications, city guides, puzzle games, and corporate mobile applications. All these applications are widely distributed by Major US carriers (ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, Alltel etc.). They work with major European carriers such as Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile, etc. Rapidsoft Systems, Inc has over 20 years of experience in mobile technologies in designing mobile applications, mobile phones programming – and some engineers at Rapidsoft Systems even designed cellular phones, pagers, GSM/ CDMA base stations and cellular switching equipments themselves for companies like Motorola, Nokia and Panasonic. Rapidsoft Systems, Inc. competence lie in to offer full software product lifecycle services in verticals such as Mobile, Networking, Healthcare, OSS, VoIP, Embedded, Business Intelligence, Security, Finance, Logistics, Social Networking, Media & Entertainment, Gaming, Travel & Hospitality, Education & Training, Web 2.0 and Retail. Its technology expertise includes Java/J2EE, C/C++, and Ruby on Rails, RDMS, Open Source, SaaS/ On-Demand, Siebel CRM, J2ME, Android, Brew, iPhone, Palm Pre, Windows Mobile, Flashlite and Symbian platforms Posted in Software Development | No Comments » Rapidsoft Systems sense the Mobile Web Applications beat Cars Application and Widget Development War28. Handset makers Research in Motion (RIM), LG Electronics, Sharp and Samsung Electronics have joined the Joint Innovation Lab (JIL) and will support JIL widget specification in future mobile handsets from Q1 2010. “The decision of LG, RIM, Samsung and Sharp to incorporate the JIL widget specifications in their future product roadmap is proof of the tremendous potential that JIL offers both to developers and customers,” said Peters Suh, JIL CEO. “All four companies are innovation leaders and this is another strong affirmation of both JIL strategy and its robust technical specifications.” (Verizon Wireless) Other members of the JIL include Verizon Wireless, Vodafone, China Mobile and Softbank (Japan) who are claiming to be able to reach a combined user base of more than 1 billion around the world (North America, Europe, Asia and Africa).
The Joint Innovation Lab (JIL) is mostly focused on creating a standardized global platform for developers to encourage the creation of a wide range of mobile widgets. The Platform is supposed to enable developers to access handset and network functionalities such as the address book, camera, location information and billing in a secure environment. JIL widgets will run on a variety of smartphones as well as mid- and low-cost handsets across several operating systems and are distributed through JIL operators’ applications stores. It also appears that a unified application store will come, but this could also be a move by JIL towards providing a brandable app store platform for participating members. For us as developers and promoters of mobile widgets this is good news for several reasons: fragmentation will be less of an issue (it will still be a major concern), we have the outlook for a global billing and distribution system and what’s not mentioned above but still important: JIL widgets are based in large parts on the W3C and BONDI specs. An interesting fact is that companies such as Samsung now have to dip their toes in several different widget waters, their own widget platform called TouchWiz, are bringing out Android handsets and produce the H1 and M1 for Vodafone 360 (which represents their JIL engangement), not to mention their Windows Mobile devices. Well, Samsung is a hardware manufacturer and they have to support all these different platforms I guess. Hopefully the goals of JIL will be implemented as announced and we can start distributing JIL widget-based applications globally soon. Rapidsoft Systems, Inc seeing as near the beginning of 2006 is dynamically implicated in developing applications for the mobile web. We have been performance widespread study and advance in this area. Looking directly at web standards and technologies such as Ajax we developed skill in how they can be resourcefully used to create inspiring and constructive true offshore mobile websites and true outsourced mobile applications. We also think that mobile widgets are great since early 2007. October 2009 by admin.
Here I will converse about is not a deal pitch for my business - it is pertinent and factual for a few true outsourced software product development company (the triumph of a development will depend on the exacting company concerned). In addition, it is applicable to the true outsourced software product development of more or less everything, not just software. A fiscal slump, such as one that on the whole of the globe is presently know-how, is a time of huge anxiety and upheaval for most companies. Product lines are consolidated, employees are let to go, and budgets are slashed. Despite all this, companies must move forward in order to survive. The smarter companies work to not only survive, but to actually thrive while their competitors are suffering.
The following is a list of what I think are the top five reasons you should consider outsourcing some of your software development even (especially?) during a recession: 1. Budget vs. Head Count An interesting phenomenon (especially in larger companies), is that there is often a sizable budget available for outsourcing/contractors even though there is an employee hiring freeze in place. Sometimes this is due to company politics and games, but there is also a very legitimate reason for this to occur: Having employees is a long-term commitment with recurring costs, whereas outsourcing or using contractors is a pay-as-you-go solution that can be adjusted as situations develop. 2. Fixed Price Projects During difficult economic times, it is important to effectively manage whatever budgets are available. A benefit that an outsourcing can offer is that of completing a specific project for a guaranteed fixed cost. 3. Jump Ahead of the Competition A recession offers a forward-thinking company the opportunity to leap ahead while its competition is licking its wounds, or at least paused in a holding pattern. Outsourcing new projects allows you to make this jump ahead, without distracting existing staff and/or assuming additional long-term commitments (as described earlier). 4. Develop Relationships, Processes, and Partnerships Developing relationships, processes, and partnerships is hard work. Trying to this while under extreme deadline pressure is very hard work, and increasingly prone to failure. Take advantage of the slower economic times to investigate and cultivate new relationships with vendors and partners on smaller projects so that all of the “kinks” are worked out before you take on bigger and more complex projects. 5. Changes in Technology Make use of the slower times to invest in new technologies so that you are in a better, more advanced, position when the economy starts picking up and clients start checking out your offerings.
Do any of these ring particularly true to you? Do any of them not seem to make sense to you? Microsoft has published a case study detailing how to port an iPhone application to its Windows Mobile platform as it prepares to launch an online store for mobile applications to compete with Apple. A post on The Windows Blog highlights a case study published on Microsoft’s Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) site containing a detailed technical blueprint that describes the porting of the iPhone application Amplitude to Windows Mobile 6.5. The report was created by a third-party consulting group, Crimson Consulting, and is meant to be a helpful document for developers as they build Windows Mobile applications for Microsoft’s Windows Marketplace. Amplitude is an iPhone application that picks up any sound in a user’s immediate surroundings through a microphone, amplifies it and renders it on the device in a graphical representation. In particular, it can amplify sounds not normally picked up by the human ear, such as heartbeats. According to the blog post by Constanze Roman, a Windows Mobile Community team project manager, Amplitude is well-suited for a porting project because it is difficult to port in a way that will provide a good learning experience for Windows Mobile developers. ”It combines a rich user interface with features such as alpha blending and transparency with specific audio and sound requirements, which makes it challenging to port the app but, at the same time, provides a number of helpful learning experiences,” he wrote. Microsoft plans to launch the Windows Marketplace for mobile applications in the fall, which in the US means the late-September to late-December time frame. Last week Microsoft began accepting submissions of mobile-phone software applications for the site from registered developers in 29 countries. As an incentive, the company is offering prizes for the most popular applications as judged by downloads, revenue, usefulness and more. Apple already has a thriving marketplace for developers that build iPhone applications.
Microsoft President of Entertainment and Devices Robbie Bach acknowledged last week at the company’s annual meeting of financial analysts that Microsoft’s mobile business, centred on its Windows Mobile OS and development platform, did not perform well in the last fiscal year, losing market share while making modest gains in unit volume. Apple’s iPhone continues to leave most other competitors in the dust in the mobile space, and Microsoft has been struggling for some time to compete in this market. In fact, while Microsoft and most other tech companies continue to report declines across their business due to the recession, Apple is doing well financially, mainly because of its booming iPhone business. In addition to the apps marketplace, Bach said Microsoft has a few ideas to improve its mobile business, including adding talent to the team and continuing to innovate on the platform without building its own hardware to compete with the iPhone, which analysts have suggested it should do. Analysts agree that Microsoft needs more than an online store to boost its mobile business. Matt Rosoff, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft, said recently that Microsoft would serve itself well by making an acquisition in the mobile space, which is not completely unlikely given the company has been hoarding cash instead of buying back a lot of its stock, going against what analysts have expected. October 2009 by admin.
Apple defied Wall Street analysts again and delivered yet another stellar quarter, despite a terrible economic backdrop and component shortages. As a brief recap, Apple beat consensus estimates on all fronts: earnings, revenues, margins and units sold. Earnings of $1.82 beat by $0.40; margins of 36.6% were 260 basis points than guidance, revenues of $9.87 billion were well ahead of $9.2 billion consensus, and Apple sold more Macs and iPhones than in any other quarter. So, one wonders, is there any more upside to Apple’s momentous run? Yes.The iPhone phenomenon is poised to continue. First, the overall smart phone market is expected to grow over the next several years. The consultancy iSuppli estimates that the smart phone market will increase from 184.2 million units in 2009 to 235.6 million units in 2010 (28% growth) to 334.1 million units in 2011 (42% growth). Smart phones still only make up roughly 15% of the overall mobile handset market, leaving more headroom for the overall market to grow. Second, within the smart phone market, Apple’s smart phone market share increased from 7.3% to 13.3%, according to data from Gartner from the second calendar quarter 2008 to 2009. The impact on Apple of both an increasing market size and increasing market share is, obviously, significant. Apple sold 78% more iPhone in their FY09 over FY08. Much of Apple’s iPhone success has been attributed to the App Store. Apple leads the breadth of offerings with over 85,000 apps for users to choose from. Most interesting, however, is that the rate of adoption is accelerating. Apple management reported that over 2 billion applications have been downloaded from its App Store since its introduction in July 2008, and 25% of them were downloaded in this last quarter alone. The applications drive sales of iPhone. That is important. However, what may be more important is that the App Store creates a direct commerce relationship with the iPhone user that, someday, could be used to sell all sorts of things through the iPhone.

Windows 7 is now for sale around the world. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is officially kicking off the Windows 7 launch at an event in New York City. Microsoft’s partners will be unveiling new hardware and OEMs are now no longer recommending Vista to consumers and are switching their default choice to Windows 7. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s happening today.
